Sony announced its first PlayStation console on December 3, 1994, and to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary, special edition PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles will be available for purchase. These consoles are specifically designed for this milestone anniversary, taking inspiration from the design of the original PlayStation. This means the newest consoles will feature a dark grey color scheme with the colorful PlayStation logo, reminiscent of the look seen when powering on the first-generation console.
The special edition consoles will be available starting November 21, with pre-orders beginning on September 26. In addition to this, Sony will also release specially designed controllers and charging stations to complete the iconic set. The PS5 Pro consoles will be limited to only 12,300 units, marking the date of December 3.
There is no exact information yet on the limited number of PS5 consoles and accessories, but technically they will be identical to standard devices, differing only in appearance. The exact price of these consoles is also not yet known, but such special editions are typically purchased by passionate enthusiasts, for whom the price is a secondary concern. Sony took a similar step to celebrate the 20th anniversary with a special PS4 version.
